Kevin & Ida’s San Francisco Wedding

Two incredible families came together to celebrate love, honor heritage, and share quality time together. Kevin and Ida’s wedding was a stunning blend of Chinese and Western cultures. The two started their day with fun doorbell games, in which the groom has to overcome a series of challenges to retrieve his bride for the start of the wedding day. Ida and her gals came up with some hilarious games to challenge Kevin and his groomsmen, including handing over smirnoff ice’s for them to down to prove their determination, memorizing a dance to show how closely Kevin could pay attention to body language, and getting on one knee to express his love for Ida to reveal his heart's intentions. I was cracking up during this whole show, and enjoyed every aspect of it!

The tea ceremony was held in Kevin’s family home. Tea Ceremonies have symbolized the union of families for thousands of years, dating back to the Tang Dynasty. (618-907) There were so many stunning details to photograph, and you could feel the love from family as they imparted their blessings and wisdom onto the couple.

Kevin and Ida then exchanged vows at the Palace of Fine Arts. It was a perfect summer afternoon, not a cloud in sight! This was strange weather for a summer in San Francisco, but I enjoyed every moment documenting this gorgeous ceremony! Ida’s mother officiated the wedding, with close friends and family circling around to watch.

Afterwards we gathered at the beautiful Dim Sum Harbor Restaurant in Burlingame for an incredible reception! With a beautiful view looking over the San Francisco Bay, friends traveled from all across the globe to celebrate! After an incredible lion dance performance, we enjoyed an incredible dinner, cut the cake, and danced the night away!
