Caitlin & Amir

When I was growing up my mom would take us into the Saint Francis Hotel to ride the elevators. We would walk up to this gorgeous palace right in the heart of Union Square, and hitch a ride to the top floor. The glass elevators would pick up speed and felt like they were launching you into the sky. Suddenly you were looking over all of downtown San Francisco. In the winter it was the best view you could get of the Christmas tree, twinkling lights, and ice skaters. That is where my love for historic hotels blossomed.

Just up the road from the Saint Francis is the incredible Fairmont San Francisco, the pinnacle of historic hotels in California.

This stunning hotel has become the home-away-from-home for royalty, rockstar’s, politicians, and everyone in between. The one of a kind penthouse suite was home to the first united nations conference, Elton John’s endless piano playing nights, and featured in Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Vertigo’. Freshly added to this amazing lineup of history: Caitlin and Amir’s wedding day.

It was just amazing to see the amazing history in the many unique details of this place. Between the hand painted tiles, vintage piano, and stunning fountain that overlooks the city, one of the wildest things I came across was a hand written note from Ivy Getty. The Californian heiress had her wedding after party in the penthouse just several months prior. Her and her new husband had slipped the sweetest note into a book of poetry.
