A Lover’s Guide to Disneyland Photos
It’s no secret I’m a Disney lover. Having worked for the company and inside the parks for many years I try to find myself in this special spot as often as I can. I’ve been manifesting a Disney wedding on property for a bit (hint hint!) but running around the park with these two lovebirds was equally as sweet!
As a past Cast Member I’m familiar with navigating around guests and finding the quieter nooks for a good photo. It can be intimidating posing for the camera with so many tourists and passer-by’s, so I prefer a hands off approach that helps my couples relax and shine.
I’m obsessed that we arrived just as the train made a stop for these photos! Talk about a little bit of pixie dust.
As you can imagine a shoot in the parks takes a lot of patience to get the right shots, but it always pays off! This session was on one of the busiest Saturday afternoons I’ve ever seen! In order to maximize time I recommend my couples pick two lands or areas of the park that are most important to them. I’m usually able to knock everything off the list (and then some!) if I have time to strategize and plan for us. We went with main street and fantasyland, stopping for some iconic castle shots along the way.
How to successfully plan a Disney Parks photoshoot:
Think like a tourist: Then do the opposite! One of the most luxurious things to do on your vacation is relax and take the day slow- which is why getting to the parks right before they open will give us the best opportunities to get the images you want!
Go with the flow. The parks can be unpredictable and ever changing. Sometimes a mural you’ve loved since a child is being repainted, or your favorite attraction is closed for refurbishment. Sometimes there are things you cannot plan on, especially if you are traveling in and not flexible on dates. Rest assured, there is magic everywhere!
Bring a change of clothes. If you’re only in the parks for a a limited time, bring a cute outfit you’re excited to have photographed, and a change for running around the parks afterwards. Your well worn comfy sneakers are great, but maybe not an outfit choice you’ll want documented. The parks lockers are surprisingly affordable, at $7 a day, and definitely beats walking back to the car!
