A Griffith Observatory Anniversary Session

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph these beautiful people many times. After a recent move across the country, I knew we needed to celebrate A&S’s anniversary in their new home of Los Angeles! High School sweethearts, hard workers, and some of our very best friends, it was such a treat to celebrate these two

If your idea of L.A. is hot, crowded, and hours of misery in traffic, you’d be correct. We knew exactly what we were getting in to on a Saturday evening in May, at the peak of Southern California’s touristy season. Despite that, we just couldn’t stay away from a staple of the city’s history and architecture, the Griffith Observatory.

The photo above was one of my absolute favorites, but it wasn’t easy to get on a packed Saturday night.

Tourists kept walking up into the shot- which is totally fine, we all knew what we getting ourselves in to. My usual strategy is to wait it out for a good moment since all I really need is two seconds to grab the shot, but this time that just wasn’t working out. Guests would stand and linger for long periods of time to enjoy the view, so my beloved Grand crouched beside my couple to keep people from walking up.

Let me say- it worked perfectly and we got everything we needed!!
