My October Adventure!

This year I booked a wedding in one of my very favorite spots on this planet- San Diego, California. I decided to thwart the rhythms of family sessions and make an entire trip out of the occasion, using the wedding as an excuse to make a grand tour through the South West. And by grand tour I mean getting to visit the grandest people.

I arrived in Arizona around 4:30pm, and after a twelve hour drive promptly passed out at my friend Maddie’s house. It was fifty degrees when I left the bay area, and a blazing 95 upon my arrival.

On Friday night Maddie took me out dancing at a country bar about an hour north of phoenix. Before dinner & dancing, I got to watch my spectacular friend RIDE A BULL. Yeah. She did that!! (also- 5 star barbeque!! yum!)

The heat didn’t linger for long, as I got to experience my second ever monsoon that Saturday. We couldn’t bear to reschedule the photoshoot we had, so instead we pivoted our plans to an indoor location. Miraculously, when we arrived the clouds parted and gave us the most incredible sunshine! And only 30 minutes after we wrapped, thunder, lightening, and a downpour of rain started up again!

On Thursday we went out hiking at Tonto State Park, which is one of Arizona’s best kept secrets. This incredible natural bridge has a beautiful full loop hike that includes unforgettable views, laughing in the face of death, and lots of rock climbing!

Before leaving Arizona I got to see my youngest brother Bradley, who is currently going to school at Grand Canyon University. People don’t believe me when I mention I’m the shortest in my family, but next to my brothers I always feel so short.

I made it to San Diego to be greeted with perfectly peaceful beaches and exceptional coffee. I had a work day in a spot I’ve been waiting to visit for so long, The Invigatorium dino decorated coffee shop in downtown San Diego. After many emails and a stare-down with a T-Rex, I was off to see Trevor and McKenna for their sunset cliffs engagement! These two were so much fun, bringing their adorable pups and all the cozy vibes. Trevor & McKenna met on the dating app β€˜Coffee meets Bagels’, and they knew they needed to incorporate part of their story into their photos. I simply cannot wait for their national parks themed wedding next September!

After a day of rest and visiting some of my favorite camera shops, it was time to celebrate Shannon & Cam! Their wedding day was absolutely incredible, and I was so blessed to be part of it. I’ll show ya some sneak peeks but wow, I have so many photos I can’t wait to share!!
