Ethereal Maternity Session

If you’ve been following my work for a while you’ll probably recognize these beautiful people. I met Britt & Nick back in 2020 on my first solo trip to Arizona. The world was just beginning to open back up after a miserable summer of lockdowns. These two were the biggest breath of fresh air. Fun, easy going, and chemistry that could crack your camera lens. It was just an absolute joy to photograph them way back when, be there for their elopement, Christmas card photos, anniversaries, and my favorite shoot to date- The Maternity Session.

This session feels like such a landmark in both my business and my personal relationship with these two. My heart just absolutely swells knowing I’ve been lucky enough to document some of their most important moments. Britt is such an anchor to those in her life. She is endlessly encouraging, thoughtful, and genuinely kind.

It is not an easy feat to mentally prepare for your maternity photos. After months of physical, emotional, and hormonal changes it can take a lot of courage to put on a dress and pretend to be who you were seven or eight months ago, but luckily this woman is not shy of a challenge. I could sense she was not quite feeling like herself when we first started chatting (yet she still absolutely ROCKED this session, sheesh!) but something she said at the end of this beautiful sunset truly lodged within my heart and made me so, so proud.

β€œI know I will be so happy with these photos later, even if they aren’t for me right now.”

This is the case with so many of the memories we document. Wedding photos that become more valuable over time, forcing camera shy grandparents to at least look at the camera, the candid moments a sneaky mom tries to capture. These are the images for our future selves. Britt and Nick’s beautiful baby will be able to view these photos seeing a strong, resilient woman getting ready to open the door to motherhood.

Britt & Nick, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You two are already the best parents, and I look forward to documenting many more memories with you.

The first outfit Britt was wearing was so special to me! This multi-colored Kate Spade dress was the same thing I was wearing the first time we ever met. Britt and I were both employed by Kate Spade, working for two different stores, and received this dress for work. It’s a favorite of both of ours and a sentimental nod to a shared experience.
